my typical landscape paintings tend to be really bright, colorful and fun. This was a challenge for myself to try something a little more dark and eerie. Over the last summers, I have enjoyed many thunderstorms here in the mountains of Virginia. I really wanted to capture the glow of the lightning, and the shadows created from the mountains in the distance. This piece also resembles the bright light and the silence before the boom.
